WhoDat is a small, handy and easy-to-use GUI app that’s been designed to help you query WHOIS servers.
All you have to do is enter the domain name and press the “Search” button. WhoDat will take care of the rest, displaying the info that interests you.
Simply enter the domain name in the search box at top left. Or specify a port with the “–port” argument.
WhoDat Features:
* The Whois database used is the default one provided by the server, so this app can also make use of the additional features of the default one (bypassing the need to enter query terms yourself).
* Multiple search modes:
* You can use the filter bar to select the information you want from the result.
* You can select one or more fields to be displayed by using the checkboxes in the top right corner.
* You can select one or more types of information to be displayed (i.e. “Name” or “Owner”).
* You can choose to display the “Registrant” or the “Administrative Contact” only.
* You can search for the “PTR” record.
* You can specify a particular PTR zone and if you do so this App will search only in that zone (this is currently available only on GoDaddy).
* You can choose to display the whole record in the results or you can choose a limited portion of it, for example the first 3 or the first 10 entries.
* You can choose the amount of results displayed in a single page. If more than one page is required, clicking the “Previous” and “Next” buttons on the left will help you move between pages.
* Searching for domain names against a PTR record works as well. If the PTR record has been set up, you’ll get an URL which opens in a new tab.
* If the Whois record contains another IP address, we display it in a separate section.
WhoDat simple interface and options:
* Use the search box to enter the domain name and press the “Search” button.
* Use the filter bar to select the information you want from the results (checkboxes in the top right corner).
* Use the checkboxes in the top right corner to select the fields to be displayed (see above).
* The search will take place only for that domain name.
* The search will take place using the default whois mode (

Verify against database
The official WHODAT app provides you with complete information about a domain through a simple web interface. Don’t worry, we don’t scrape your information. To verify the validity of a domain, you must register the domain and then open the page provided in the app.
If the domain is registered in the registrar’s database, the respective detail is displayed in the web view. If your domain is not registered, the web view won’t display information about your domain.
Data values
The “WhoIS” and “WhoWolf” websites all use different types of data. The user manual pages mention the data type and data’s meaning in which section it is mentioned.
WhoIs
Static data
The “WhoIs” website stores the following data:
Registrant Contact: the contact details of the current Registrant of the domain.
CAA (Certificate Authority) contact: if you choose, you can send your request to the CAA contact for a particular domain.
Registrar: the registrar who has registered the domain.
Administrative contact: the contact details of the current owner of the domain.
Technical contacts: the contact details of all persons associated with the domain, for example technical directors, administrative directors, technical contacts, accountants, call centres, affiliates, etc.
Official registrar: if the domain name is registered with an official registrar (like).
