Project Brutality is on Github and the page provides links to all of the hud mods for it and for the GZDoom remake. Project Brutality has moved on to support the latest version of GZDoom, GZDoom2, which has been updated to work with GZDoom 1.3. (Older mods will not work with it.) There is also a forum, which is sadly lacking in activity, but does provide a good archive of the project history. You are also free to experiment and find your own alternatives to the mods that work best for you. There are plenty of mods for both the project and the GZDoom remake that can be used in addition or as replacements for these mods.
And last, but surely not least, I am sure many of you dont want to be reminded of a project you say you want to forget. For any of those who have been commenting on the project for months, if not years, this game is still a bit of a bugbear, however I can totally understand. I used to feel the same way. I think the major problem with Brutal Doom is that it had some genuinely good ideas in its original conception, but those ideas were poorly implemented. In fact, the issues with implementation may even have contributed to the project becoming such an albatross around my neck.
A few Mods in this library have some peculiar quirks. If you take a look at the GitHub page they are coming from an abandonware FPS remake of Project Brutality titled Project Brutality HD that was released in 2014. Its been inactive for a while now and seems to have been removed from all mirrors. The last activity was in April 2017. You probably wont find a download link. Since Alis Brutal Doom doubles down on the Black Metal, one must ask, does it worth double the price? I feel strongly that Project Brutality will be worth it, and that Alis Brutal Doom will too. By the way, in case youre wondering, Alis Brutal Doom is free-for-all multiplayer in the age of Fortnite. You can invite or join other players through their games list. You can carry over weapons and items from black metal to black magic. And if youre into the whole demon stele thing, you can even use that. You also get 100% of the rewards for black magic, and eventually find the final portal to Death (the Demon Portal). Its serious business! Oh yeah, theres a soundtrack and a bunch of other things.
We’re fully supported for doing SSG support in Project Brutality, so this mod is definitely going to be supported more. Also, for those that want an easter egg, we have an option to enable a custom helmet right click action that shoots a sniper rifle. This has zero visual or audio effect, but the gunshots are easy to hear.
To those with previous knowledge of Ketchup: – Ketchup’s previous mod Brutal Doom was re-released as a standalone mod called Torture Chamber. Torture Chamber adds both Tankadoom and an adaption of the Dark Decade and brentepatno’s Quad Damage reworks. The original Brutal Doom was mostly re-used and changed so that it could be used without engine mods. Torture Chamber is also a bit more hardcore than the original mod. – “Torture Chamber Mod is a standalone mod for using with Ketchup. Unlike the original Brutal Doom, Torture Chamber Mod enables you to play the original Doom in the limited and all-new Doom mod. This is a remake of the original Brutal Doom project, now with a lot more content, including weapons and monsters from DoomRL, Quad Damage, ApoE, and more. This is not a new branch of Ketchup’s original Brutal Doom project, but a new standalone mod. There will be no public release of Torture Chamber because it will be locked to a limited number of players. Torture Chamber Mod is only for that few players – take care to back up your files. While the majority of changes in Torture Chamber Mod were done by Ketchup himself, the concept and design of Torture Chamber was based on Dean Slieck’s work on the Quad Damage mod.
