image tools. paintshop pro has a lot of powerful tools for editing images. i tested a few of them, and found them to be up to par with photoshop. these include a selection tool, a selection brush, a crop tool, a color tool, a paint mixer, a color picker, a color correction tool, a 3d painter, a 3d brush, a shape tool, a clone tool, a smudge tool, and a re-size tool.

the main advantage of paint shop pro over photoshop is the fact that you can save image adjustments as layers. you can also manipulate a layer, merge it with another layer, and cut it away from its original file. these functions give you far more control over your image than you would have with photoshop. however, some of the layers-only features will take a bit of getting used to.

the paper tools panel has standard paper textures and patterns, as well as airbrush brushes. you can also create your own paper textures and patterns. the toolbox also has a ton of texture tools that will apply textures to an object. you can paint over a photo to make a texture, or use the brush to paint over an object to make a texture.

lens correction. this is a must-have tool for any photo editing program. paintshop includes the ability to straighten photos, but the new feature in this version is the new lens correction tool. the tool does a remarkably good job of removing the distortion from fisheye lenses. i tested it on a bunch of photos, including the following three:

airbrush, the new paint tool.this new tool lets you paint with a brush. you can use a preset or adjust the settings yourself. you can even create your own brush tip, such as a crosshatch, and adjust the settings for width, opacity, and brush type. this is a really cool new feature. in the process of drawing the lines, you can even put a stroke color into the selected area.

if you want to create a professional-looking final result, paintshop pro is your tool. it has features that are similar to the ones found in photoshop and elements, but it has most of the same features. this version, paintshop pro 7, costs $239.00.
there’s no shortage of photo-editing tools on the market these days. some of them come at a high cost, others are free, but no matter which one you choose, you’re always left with a few questions when it comes to software. such as, is this the best? can i get the best of both worlds? when it comes to photoshop and its sibling elements, the answer is yes. with them, you can’t get the best of both worlds. you can’t use all the features of either program with the other, and this is where paintshop pro comes into play. by using both programs, you can get all the features of both, but also make the transition to using the same program that you know and love. this version of paintshop pro, version 7, is an upgrade for the program.
i have the paintshop pro 7 software and my scanner works fine with the software. i thought it was the scanner that had problems. i have used the software for a long time but now it does not work at all. it will take a photo or image and just sit there with the scanner reading but when it is supposed to go to the next photo it just sits there and never does anything. i have never had any problems with the scanner before. i have tried all the options. also on a computer with a different scanner it does the same thing so there must be a problem with the software. the software will not work with adobe acrobat 8 either. i have tried all options and it still does the same thing. any help would be greatly appreciated. my e-mail address is rzim79@yahoo.com if anyone could help me i would be very grateful.
