Overview

Abe’s lost one of his fingers. Twisted and broken, his once-precious pinkie has been ripped from his body. Forced to become a lab rat, Abe is assigned to investigate a mysterious drug that may cure the government’s “sleeping sickness”. Along the way Abe witnesses a prophecy of a coming apocalypse as a revolutionary society takes over the city. Alone and in need of rescue, Abe begins a journey that will lead him to the truth about the drug, the rebels and all of history.

Story
Based on the world created by studio I-cube founder Toby Fox, Abe’s Oddysee:

Abe is an embittered mutant who’s lost a finger due to experimentation. To make matters worse, a revolutionary society now controls his city. He believes a new drug can help him, but will it be enough to save him?

Gameplay
Using its proprietary physics, collision detection and network play technology, Oddworld Inhabitants is developing a “next-generation network play” game. The game is an original tale, and will feature a very non-linear story and characters.

Gameplay is achieved through environmental manipulation, puzzle solving and exploration of the game world. The game will have multiple points of play that allow the player to choose how they solve or proceed within the environment. The title will be in the style of a 2D side-scroller, but the player is able to explore 3D areas. There will also be puzzles that require the player to navigate an environment within a particular timeframe.
