In the midst of all the thrill of fighting, however, the idea of being in a vacuum all the time was quite an escape for Trigger. He often wished for something that would get him away from the Master System, and when MegaMan Battle Network 5 was announced, he hoped that it might. Heading off into the wild, wild west without any clear direction in mind was another appeal to the adventurous side of him. After all, isn’t that the whole point of adventure games? Let’s just go and find something! That’s a bunch of major points in Megaman X6.
His sister, who would become the ultimate heroine in the Megaman Battle Network series, Bass was only 10 at the time of the game’s creation, so she was very young to be doing such a big job. It’s a good thing that Bass also enjoyed adventuring, for she was good at it and had developed the self-reliance attitude from the start. She’s the kind of person who is willing to help others out, and she continues to be so as she gets older. With the wisdom she gains from her adventures, and her knack for making friends, Bass is truly one of the likeable characters of the MegaMan Battle Network series.
At the same time, Bass had become quite skilled as a Digger. Knowing how to create the object at hand is essential for any adventurer. The tagline for Mega Man X6 was “There’s no Digicube like a Bass.” And he really did make an outstanding DigiCube. After using the first Digicube that Bass made, MegaMan gets bored with it. MegaMan explained that it was perfectly okay, however, because he was always able to create one himself using the data from Bass. At first, MegaMan made a beautiful Digicube, but he also ended up copying Bass’ design just to keep her happy. MegaMan did this to show her his admiration, but it really wasn’t the real thing, and he was just getting himself into trouble.
Other things such as the robot name and appearance have been changed. For instance, the name of the game’s greater NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, has been changed to Mega Man X. Also, the triangle shape on the face, the blue antenna on the head, as well as the blue eyes of the NetNavi have also been changed.
MegaMan’s hopes to have a happy life are undercut when he hears his fellow “dads” gathered to throw him a birthday party. Upset, MegaMan trains for ten days before flying out to join the birthday party and don’t want to spare anyone at the party. On his way to the party, MegaMan encounters a strange replica of himself, which he promptly destroys. When at the party and about to land from his fly-pac, however, he finds out that it was just a phantom created by a mysterious shadowy being, a being named Denton. As this does not go away so easily, MegaMan decides to fight him for the peace of his mind. The two fight, but MegaMan manages to catch the shadow-being in the process. Unable to absorb the shadow-being into himself, MegaMan narrowly avoids it and returns to his real life by grasping onto the phantom. This leaves MegaMan in great danger, but luckily, he manages to reach a safety center and is advised by Roll to take a bike from there to a safe zone.
MegaMan flies to the safe zone, but soon encounters the shadow-being again. Having now made an imprint of the shadow-being’s true form into MegaMan’s mind, however, MegaMan is capable of battling against this new form. Though MegaMan is not sure who this shadowy being is, when its true identity is revealed as the past iteration of X known as the Golden X, MegaMan loses all will to fight him at this point. Together with X, the three undergo a familiarisation program, where they face off against three Golden Xs and a Golden X Zero. The trio are driven to confront X by the suffering brought upon their home and families by the Golden X and the Golden X Zero, and are also pushed to find out why the shadow-being is haunting MegaMan’s dreams and, so, embark on a new quest to face them.
