i have a hp laserjet 4500 and i have a problem with the printer driver. i have tried to install the printer driver from the hp website but it doesn’t work. i have also tried to install it through the control panel but there is no option to install the driver. i don’t know how to solve the problem.

i have successfully created an xps printer driver for windows with windows driver kit. the printer part (driver and actual printer setup) is a part of a larger application. to install the driver manually works fine since i can manually accept that it is not certified when windows prompt me to accept or decline the installation for that reason (that it is not certified).
its a very simple driver that can print text, images, and other documents to your printer. the driver just connects to the gp80220ii and prints whatever is in the gp.txt file. note that on linux, you need to make sure the file is executable. in this case, you just need to make it executable, and the printer will automagically open when you plug it in. if you need to do it yourself, you can change the permissions on gp.txt, or right-click the file and select properties, and then click the permissions tab, and tick the “allow executing file as program” box.
