neuschwanstein is accessible from the city of munich. this means that you can drive or ride a train to get there, or you can take a bus (which is the quickest way to get there). however, one thing to note is that the route to neuschwanstein is extremely confusing and has many turns and multiple options.
there are four options to get to neuschwanstein castle from munich. the first two options are by car, and the final two options are by bus. the first option is to use the s6 express s-bahn (an underground train) to get to the s8 s-bahn in seefeld, and then get off at the s8-waldstrasse stop, which is close to the neuschwanstein castle. this option takes approximately 45 minutes and costs roughly $3.00.
there are two options for getting to neuschwanstein castle from munich by train. the first option is to take the s8 s-bahn, which is the train that the s6 express trains run on. this train will also go to the train station in munich, and then you would take a local train from there.
the second option is to take a train from munich to rosenheim, and then from rosenheim to neuschwanstein castle. this option is more expensive than the first option, and takes about 2 hours, but is still cheaper than renting a car.
