(The number “2019” is actually a “release 2019”, with one digit indicating the year of release and another digit indicating the version number.)

AutoCAD is still available as a desktop app on personal computers running Windows and Mac OSX. It also is available as a web app. AutoCAD is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

1982-1981 release
1982
The 1982 AutoCAD version was the first release. It was designed to run on computers with internal graphics controllers, such as the Osborne 1 computer.
This version of AutoCAD is incompatible with older AutoCAD releases.
Changes between 1982 and the current release of AutoCAD 2019
The 1982 AutoCAD version included a number of user interface changes:
Hint icon colors were changed to red and green instead of orange.
The auto-save function became a setting in the User Preferences dialog box.
The taskbar icons were changed to reflect that the AutoCAD program was now a client program.
