A comparison of midazolam and propofol in providing sedation for outpatient procedures.
We conducted a prospective randomized study to compare the sedation properties of midazolam (100 micrograms/kg intravenously [IV]) and propofol (2 mg/kg IV). Thirty-seven patients scheduled for outpatient procedures requiring moderate sedation were randomly assigned to receive midazolam or propofol as a pretreatment. All patients were sedated in the recovery area of a tertiary care hospital. Prior to the initiation of sedation, patients were administered either midazolam or propofol. During the procedure, the type and dose of sedative-analgesic drug were titrated according to response to command. A blinded observer determined sedation level using the Aldrete scale. Patients also evaluated the procedure for memory, discomfort, and pain. Nineteen patients received propofol and 18 patients received midazolam. There were no significant differences between the groups in any of the measured variables. The mean duration of surgery was 16.8 minutes in the midazolam group and 14.3 minutes in the propofol group. The mean time to discharge from the procedure room was 83 minutes in the midazolam group and 91 minutes in the propofol group. There were no significant differences in the levels of sedation achieved. Both drugs produced sedation, pain relief, and amnesia for the procedure. Our results suggest that both drugs provide adequate sedation for outpatient procedures and either can be used as a pretreatment for moderate sedation.Q:

Edit Objects Improvements:
Smart lines are now automatically deselected when you create a line drawing. The hot corner (ctrl+click) now displays the nearest visible object in your drawing area.

Android EditText setText on “New line”
I am developing an android application with a lot of strings to be entered by the user. I want to enter these strings by typing them on a new line and not typing them on a single line. For example, when I type the text “test”, instead of getting “test” on the same line (as on a normal textView), I want to get something like “test”
on the same line. The text should automatically be visible on the next line. How can I do that?
