for people who grew up with the 16-bit era of gaming, it’s a godsend. the 3d graphics of these games were incredible in their time. the final fantasy series with its great side scroller nova quest and dragon quest series with it’s ever-changing dungeons and combat. these were amazing games, for a long time.
i’ve been watching the official site, and it seems like there are some pretty good nes games coming down the pipeline now. i’m really excited about them, and i’m hoping the snes gets a bunch of very good games, as well. but it’s never as exciting to buy a game if there isn’t a new release coming out.
the worst one that i can think of would be due to time constraints: the ’20 sega genesis classics’ collection. it includes some good series but by the time you get through it, you’ll see that you’ve only seen the games released in the last decade or so. it’d be very cool if they made an app that let you pick your own favorites, but i’m sure nintendo wants to keep it to the big name ones.
i think it makes sense, personally. if they’re going to bring back those games, that means there’s demand for them, and nintendo will capitalize on that. they could always tinker with this app to make it more awesome for the older games, but that won’t happen. anyway, it’s a good thing for those who enjoy it.
if you’ve never played an snes game before, why not try my favourite snes title, super metroid? it has plenty of content and it’s certainly one of the most enjoyable games to play on the system, hands down.
like mario kart 8 deluxe for the switch the online functionality is intuitive and simple and its a breeze to play, you never need to leave the title screen. with a price at $20 for just the subscription we are charged around $240 usd per year for service, thats a lot of money but nintendo have managed to still use the same price for most titles. the main drawback being the lack of the ability to download games i do wish nintendo would bring this feature soon as i know there are gamers out there who would like to download games but do not want to pay for the service, the ability to download games would make the service a great deal and more appealing to those people.
