overall, i think the game is extremely complex. it has the feeling of a first-person shooter and is also more or less fighting games. you have to consider the different ways of the deopod, they perform different ways of fighting and in different stages.
solved a bug with the left mouse button (it was set to the d-pad, but the game requires the mouse buttons to work by default). right now i’m working on the ball physics (i don’t know how many more issues i’m going to encounter..). there’s plenty of support you can find through the web, if you already had a fix in mind and just wanted to check if it works fine i’m in the same position, i don’t know how many issues i’m going to have.

actually i have found the core of the problem. some time ago i’ve found an error in the communication between the game and the game window, which was solved with wow64 no-coverage fix. this fix was not updated to the final release, but is working on steam and alien shooter 2 – reloaded. i’m not sure if it is related, but when i install steam on windows vista 64bit or 64bit vista 32bit is worked fine. maybe some problems with dlls or not synchronized processes. i will try in next few days, maybe the application will be fixed or some other game.
thanks a lot for your kind help! (because of the “crash with exception” ive always assumed that something was wrong with the game and steam or the game, but you found an issue with windows! wow!) i will try to communicate with alienshooter2-reloaded developers to see if they can provide me with any information. (if anyone is actually interested in an non-crash fix, this is not something i can fix. thanks) best, andrei
re: other games that have a similar problem: i wrote a small script that monitors files in windows registry (hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\appcompatflags\layers
ativeimage) and enumerates the list of all executable files that are in directories listed in the registry. after some testing it seems that a folder called _dmtinreboot is special.
the folder is created automatically after windows restarts (in “system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager\restart” key). it is deleted after windows is restarted. i’m pretty sure that the failure is inside this folder.
