In the most eloquent scene of the film, Jesus is taking his last supper with his disciples when Judas arrives. The characters make jokes at the table and the audience can almost feel them smiling inside as they watch the others being tortured. With a few strokes of the director s pen, Gibson has rendered the idea of the source of the Passion as a piece of proverbial trivia. The film is about a man being executed, plain and simple. And if you look closely you can see a lot of Jesus in it. I appreciate this.
