The next day, Rin, who could use Exorcism, asked Shiro to join him in a battle with the Demon Knights. Shiro tried to convince Rin not to go, because he doesn’t want to lose him like his father did. To his dismay, Rin left anyways and met with another Exorcist, Shin. Shin asked Rin where the demon was that he was looking for, and Rin told Shin of Shiro. Later, Rin and Shin met with Shiro, who told them that the Demon Knights were taking the lives of people near the school. Shiro gave them his blood to be used as a Totem, much to Rin’s anger.
The next day, a cold, rainy morning found Rin and Yukio preparing for their next fight against Naberius, whose body was fortified to resist the Exorcists blue flames. At the same time, Shiemi was training for a fight against herself, as she had begun to lose control of her abilities. In the dorm’s cafeteria, Rin was approached by a student, called Michael, who wanted to know where the pack of clothes he left in the bathroom was; and as he searched for the box, a massive tornado hit the cafeteria. As the house was collapsing, Rin and some of the other students managed to escape, while Shiemi was nearly crushed by a column. A few hours later, during the middle of the night, Reiji suddenly said that his sister had come to the hospital for some examination, leaving the rest to wonder what happened to her.
The next day, Mephisto found Rin in the pond he had shown Rin three months before. Mephisto explained to Rin about how he was chosen for the Exorcist’s school because he was born with a special gift for detecting Demons and could see the ones which Satan has occupied. Without warning, a huge Demon appeared and attacked them from all sides. As Rin, Mephisto and his friends fought, they eventually entered an unknown world, where Mephisto showed them a language he spoke only to him and Satan. After reaching Satan’s realm, an old man named Lucifer appeared and told Mephisto to fight a young Demon. When the old man died, he gave Mephisto a green key, which opened the gates of Hell. Shiro and the other Exorcists fought the Demons, and with Mephisto’s help they entered the Hells Gate. As Shiro started to worry about Rin’s whereabouts, Rin appeared and told Shiro that he was with his brother and Mephisto. Mephisto explained that as they fought Demons in the material world, Satan had already succeeded in purifying all of the Exorcists, and they will be able to purge Satan at the Gates of Hell, but a group of Demons was invading. Rin asked Mephisto about the use of the same key, and the Demon King angrily waved his hands to scold Rin for speaking in front of his “guests”. The Demon King then told Mephisto about a plan for purging Satan, which included some of the strongest Exorcists breaking into Heaven and destroying the Angelic Kingdom, and then, Satan is to be killed in the spiritual realm. The Demon King then stated that the Demons should go and take the key, which was buried beneath a small island in the Pestilence Lake.
