Whats obvious from the looks of it is that both plugins are designed to be compatible with CS4, but that doesnt mean they are. After Effects CS3 and CS4 use completely different methodologies for some of the compositing features.
Over the years, both Red Giant and Boris FX have improved their respective versions of Primatte. That is, of course, quite understandable, given that they are competing against each other. But it shows just how much of an effect competitor can have on an entire community. Primatte 3 is currently available for After Effects CS3 and After Effects CS4, and it was worth the wait. At the top of the page, the screen cast shows a link that will give you a free download of Boris FXs Primatte 3. The screencast is in English but you will also be able to choose from Spanish, French or Italian languages in the dropdown menu that is at the top right side of your browser. Although the setup and some other areas of the screencast are in English, everything you need to know about installing Boris FXs plugin is in the languages above.
The companies website also shows where the download is going to. For those not in the UK or other areas with restrictions, the plugin will be available in a few days from the 30th of August 2012. To download, you need to create an account and login. There you will find the download links in that download area. You will then need to install the plugin, and any updates will be available in the same area. Not all of the Boris FX plugins are for After Effects CS4 yet, but if youve tried out one of the previous versions you shouldnt have any problems finding its updates.
