i dont understand why you believe that dragon medical practice edition for windows is a better solution than what im currently doing. it certainly doesnt sound like it to me. i can edit and expand the vocabulary, make corrections, and dictate as fast as i can speak with a very high rate of accuracy; i can use transcription; and, i get to keep the far superior functionality of a mac over a pc. i dont see the advantage of using medical dragon vs. regular dragon. my profiles are pristine.

yes, i do get to keep the far superior functionality of a mac over a pc. i cannot use dragon medical practice edition for windows on a mac; at least not to the degree that i can on a pc. having said that, i have never owned a mac. i have used dragon medical practice edition for windows on a pc (more than ten years ago) and it certainly was far superior to dragon professional individual (when it came out) as well as the mac. i am well aware of the differences and much prefer the mac version.

thanks for your help, i just bought a new mac and i am using dragon on mac. it is working well on mac. but i have one problem. some time ago, i bought a new macbook pro, but i did not activate windows on it, when it was time to buy a new mac, i bought a mac with windows on it, and it worked perfectly, i did not activate windows, but now i need to use it as a speech synthesiser, but my mac does not work. do you have any ideas to help me?

hi john, you have a good point. when i mentioned the’serial number’ you mentioned, i was referring to the product activation or license serial number for your mac, not your voice recognition serial number. that is one possible explanation. you have an activation serial number and a voice recognition serial number. if you have an activation serial number, it is likely the one you have is tied to your mac. if you are using it with a new mac and it is not activating, it is possible you have a license serial number tied to a previous mac. to me it does not make sense to have a voice recognition serial number tied to a mac. you should be able to generate a voice recognition serial number for use on multiple macs. i’ve spent some time looking at the nuance documentation to confirm this is the case. if you generate a voice recognition serial number and it does not activate, then nuance needs to let you know what serial number is valid.
hi dave, nuance does not have an api for processing dictation, so it is possible that the serial number cannot be generated. do you have a “serial number” that you can use when you create a new account on the website? it may be this serial number is tied to your mac (ie, the mac that you are using to work with dragon). i’m not sure why it would be tied to a mac and not a voice recognition serial number, but its possible.
nuance and apple have been working together closely on their operating system, so nuance will continue to work on mac os, apple included. the m1 chips are built into the macs, and dragon is able to work with the operating system without any issues. the windows version is certainly an issue, but it would take a lot more than an operating system upgrade for nuance to work on this.
