Theres nothing left to do. You probably just unloaded your game. Back to the Wii menu and take out your gamepad. Look for the button with the Wiimote symbol on it. This is the gamepad button. You can use this to load or unload games from SD as well as back up your NAND to the SD card and vice versa. Although it may be annoying to you, this function is mostly used for testing so you dont have to worry about doing that if you dont want to. This will take you back to the main menu. Congratulations!
If you went to the SD card and loaded your backup and loaded the game, it should work as expected. You can turn off the console and it should still work since its dealing with the NAND or SD card itself. If you want to be sure youve restored everything correctly, you can go to the game’s options and hit the Game Console, ID CRC Recovery, CRC to NAND, NAND to SD. It will compare the two items and tell you if there was any corruption or not. If its fine, just go back to the Game Console menu and refresh (there may be several CRC options), press start and youll be back to the Wii start menu. If you went to a different game, theres no need to restore the game because you can just turn the console back on. After that, youre done.
Format your SD card. Wii emulators dont support the autorun feature. That means when you try to open back up your game and it wont run, you cant do anything! so let your formatted SD card be removed from your system, only to be put back in later. Your SD card and NAND will need to be re-formatted later.
Boot BootMii by pressing the Power and Reset buttons. Select Options (gears icon) on the far right and select Data Management. Click on Wii NAND Backup and select Yes to start the backup process. Wait for it to finish, select Backup completed then OK.
hey i agree with others here that this is a very comprehensive guide. id throw you a donation if you have a link but i didnt see one anywhere. also i didnt see any kind of summary for whats needed on the sd card after completing this guide. i know the apps folder needs to stay for whatever i want to keep in the homebrew menu. you do mention copying off and deleting nand backups and stuff, but what about the random other folders and root level files that were needed for vwii and coldboot etc. i have some random files and folders that id love to clean up but im not sure if theyre needed on the sd card forever.
yeah, i can imagine that it does. unfortunately i lost a lot of the backup files when i was trying to load the games again, and these files were on the replacement card. sorry you’re having the same problems.
that would not be a cause of the problem. the slider did not move at all and it had no effect. i would make sure all the files are deleted and start over. if it doesn’t work, post a new question with a screenshot of the wii u. someone can give you a better answer than i can.
ok i will wait until it is fixed because i would like to make a back up anyway but in the meantime i have a question. i have created a back up of my wii u via your guide. when i go to download the update of my games it says the file doesnt exist, i have no idea what to do to fix it (i did put in my sd card to my wii and i made sure that it was plugged in and all this info).
thanks for the help. i tried reinstalling the wii u and followed your advice. the wii u shows the wad files when i do a search. i can select a wad file and it shows up at the end of the list and i can download it but i can never open the wad file. it wont open in dw2 or wup or any other homebrew application. any ideas as to whats going on here?
